The year 2015 has become part of history. Many of us have witnessed some unexpected events in 2015. Some of them were pleasant surprises and others were not so pleasant, but the Lord brought us through all of them and here we are at the dawn of 2016.
From a worldly outlook, we are all facing an uncertain future, but every child of God needs to have this confidence that the omniscient God who holds the future is with us. Jesus told His disciples that it “is good for you that I go. If I am gone, I will send you the Helper to be with you always” (John 16:7, emphasis added). God cannot change His word. Times, situations and people are changing right before our eyes, and unfortunately we don’t have much control over these. Let us, however, remind ourselves of this infallible word of the Lord: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23). Here we are promised the unceasing love, the unending mercies and unfathomable faithfulness of God. We can bank on these attributes of our heavenly Father.
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:18-19). Life won’t be the same again with the Lord. We don’t have to live in the mundane repetitions of yesterday. Today is a new day. The promises of tomorrow as we see in our Heavenly Father’s book should give us enough reason to be excited! As we pass through the wilderness, He shows us the way. In the desert experiences of life, the river of God comes for our comfort and quenches our thirst.

It is my prayer that the Lord may enable every one of us to know Him in a very personal way. Our excitement to live for Him and resolve to be busy with His work, I pray, will only grow stronger in this New Year. May the Lord richly bless you and your loved ones as you act upon His promises.
