The Whole Armor of God – Part 1

A weapon of resolve and spiritual strength!

.

.

In the spiritual warfare armamentarium, the first weapon mentioned is the belt of truth (Ephesians 6:14). As a follower Jesus Christ, every Christian is on a battleground. Our fight is not against flesh and blood but against the principalities and powers of the unseen world. The Bible clearly talks about this unseen world and its effect on our current world system. Since we are battling against the spiritual forces, our weapons are spiritual.

What is this truth? The Bible, the Word of God, is the truth (John 17:17). This Word was personified in Jesus. Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life”- John 14:6.   We are in a world system that does not believe in absolute truth. Everything is relative and, in a way, individuals are given the freedom to define truth for themselves! Needless to say that it is a perfect recipe for total chaos. Unfortunately we face the consequences of this every day. We, the Christians, are the visible representation of the Truth. We need to tell the truth and live the truth.

Belt – It shows our readiness.

Truth keeps us always prepared. It gives a sense of readiness on our task. We will not be caught off guard, having this belt always around our waist! “Manufactured truth” and “missing truth” weakens our resolve. It makes us very vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks.

Belt – It goes around the back and gives a back support.

The moral back bone is quintessential to our spiritual warfare. We will not be able to stand against the wiles of the enemy without this back support! It gives us moral strength. It is the “spiritual back bone.”

Belt – It is a symbol of freedom.

John 8:32 records “you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” This freedom will enable us to go forward -freedom to “climb the mountains” and “fly high.” The enemy will have a difficult time to have a hold on our lives as we have this tightly around our waists!

Belt – It is a symbol of wholesomeness.

John 17:17- “sanctify them by the truth, thy word is truth.” A sanctified body is a healthy body.

.

God is expecting us to have truth in our inward parts. Deep inside of us, He is searching for the truth. He is not interested in the “truth of the lips!” (Psalms 51:6). Speaking the truth and living the truth should be the hallmark of a Christian.

When the belt comes off, it creates embarrassment. This is true for the belt of truth as well. Many of the “front liners” had to withdraw from the scene because of this!

It is my prayer that the Lord may help each and every Christian to have this truth in our inner beings so that it may be reflected in our dealings, conversations, activities and all forms of expression.

.

.

I pray that the Lord may guide, protect and empower you all. Be blessed so you can be a blessing!
